Duties

As a SECURITY SPECIALIST you will be responsible for the following duties: - Deliver efficient and effect review and analysis of background investigations, adjudications and continuous evaluations in determining the appropriate physical and logical access for all agency personnel to include contractor personnel. - Ensure all clearance concerns discovered are coordinated with the Personnel Security program to develop positive resolutions. - Manage oversight of DCSA Service Now Security Helpdesk Requests and develop monthly Service Now reports in support of Security Programs Office metrics. - Manages the issuance of courier cards and the tracking of courier cards expiration dates within approved DoD database. - Assist in the management of the Badge & Credentials program. - During daily Security operations, assist with identifying new security requirements and effects on current security programs plans, policy, guidance, and directives, and initiates changes and updates. - Conduct end of day security checks and ensure visitor logs are maintained in accordance with DoD 5200.1R. - Assist Security Supervisor in overseeing agency-wide security processes in support of End 2 End Onboarding and Out-processing program.

  • Incumbent must complete SPeD Certification within 2 years
  • Successfully completes initial and periodic refresher courses in anti-terrorism/force protection.

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG 12 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experienced in a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, analyze, and resolve security issues and resolve difficult and complex security issues or problems. Experienced in handling and managing complex security clearance information and in directing appropriate physical and logistical access to facilities/servers. This includes having a vast knowledge of security clearance information from an adjudication office. Prepare and deliver written and oral reports, management directives, information recommendations, and findings to the intended audience at various levels in the organization and workforce within the agency. Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: Communications- Communicate (i.e., written and oral) rights, responsibilities, management directives, policies, and/or regulations to employees, supervisors, and/or other pertinent individuals. Physical Security - Applies requirements for designing, accrediting, equipping, and securing government and contractor Facilities to guard against unauthorized access. Develops and enforces access control regulations and procedures. Customer Service- Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement. Security - Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines related to securing personnel, facilities, and information, including the requirements for handling, transporting, and protecting classified information and proper reporting of security incidents. Communications Strategy - Supports the employment of measures and controls to deny unauthorized persons electronic, logical, and physical access to information derived from electronic communications and ensures authenticity of such communications. Physical Security - Apply requirements for addressing the general physical protection of personnel, installations, facilities, information, operations, and related assets.
