The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical and administrative support to the Quality, Safety and Value (QSV) department at the Carl Vinson VAMC in Dublin, Georgia. The incumbent serves as a secretary and will report to the Chief of the QSV. The Secretary will independently carry out and coordinate all the clerical and day to day administrative support activities that are typically required to accomplish the work of the organization.
Duties
Coordinate all the clerical and day-to-day administrative support activities
Assists with schedules and meeting logistics
Provides courteous assistance to visiting dignitaries
Attends and records official minutes for meetings and committees as assigned
Prepares documents/correspondences for QSV Leadership
Critically reviews all outgoing correspondence to ensure conformance with regulations, grammar, format, typographical accuracy, staff coordination, and other procedural requirements
Assists in implementing the QSV Chief's intentions by contacting subordinate offices with requests for information and/or relaying instructions or suggestions.
Works well within teams and work groups when they are formed.
Instructs and assists other secretaries in all level subordinate offices concerning correspondence procedures, time and leave procedures, and travel requirements
Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Telework is Ad-hoc only.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/10/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience typically include, but are not limited to: proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Outlook, Adobe and SharePoint, ability to transcribed meeting minutes, emails, correspondences, memos, letters and other forms of written communication; skills in reviewing correspondence and documents prepared for signature by management to ensure compliance with regulations, rules of grammar, format guidelines, and special policies of the facility.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do work. However, there will be some walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items like papers, books and equipment using a cart. No physical demands are required to perform the work.
