About the Position: Performs a variety of clerical, administrative, and technical duties/responsibilities in support of management with the intent of accomplishing the administrative requirements of the directorate/clinic to which assigned; therefore, contributing to the efficient and effective accomplishment of the objectives of the overall directorate.
Work hours are from 7:30-4:30 with a one-hour lunch.

Duties
Respond to requests for information involving directorate programs and functions.
Gather and analyze data from a variety of sources.
Research and analyze problems and provide recommendation for use in developing administrative documents and reports.
Accomplish input to and reporting from a system such as the Defense Medical Human Resources System Internet (DMHRSi).
Receive and log outgoing correspondence, reviewing it for correct format and grammatical accuracy.
Prepare correspondence covering subject of an administrative nature, both internal and external.
Maintain control of action correspondence; performs follow-up action to ensure timely reply/action.
Review administrative guidance, policies, and procedures from higher authority to determine effect on assigned mission.
Maintain supervisor's calendar.
Receive telephone calls and visitors, referring to appropriate staff as necessary.
Maintain calendar that supports recurring meetings, Video Teleconference Centers as well as unscheduled activities.
Provide a review of the data from the Defense Travel System (DTS).

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
Time-in-grade documentation: If you are applying for a higher grade and your SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements (examples of appropriate SF-50s include Promotions, Within-grade Grade/Range Increases, and SF-50s with an effective date more than one year old).
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative duties related to a medical office or health care administration; utilizing healthcare software systems such as the Genesis, the Template Analysis Tool, and TRICARE on-line to input and retrieve data; input and report from a system such as the Defense Medical Human Resources Systems Internet (DMHRSi); and/or evaluating correspondence for grammatical and/or technical accuracy.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration, or related fields such as Business or Public Administration with course work in Health Care Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
