You will serve as a SERVICE SHOP INSIDE MANAGER in the Production Resources Department (Code 900), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Service Shop (Code 990) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will perform cost data studies, benchmarking, review of precedent projects for improvements and develop various productivity and work packaging improvements.
You will serve as the resident expert to advise the Project Teams on the manufacturing shop process capabilities.
You will provide coordination of the shop work packaging group, shop planners and shop details or sketch section.
You will assist the Project Team with ensuring drawings are reviewed, shipboard ship checks are performed, problem areas are identified and resolved before the preliminary job summaries are written.
You will serve as the point of contact for the project team when new work is identified.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying nuclear and non-nuclear production trade and technical methods, procedures, materials and processes associated with the repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessels.
Experience applying ship repair, including refueling, defueling, deactivations and radiological control concepts and requirements.
Experience planning and coordinating complex nuclear and non-nuclear ship repair, overhaul and installation projects.
Experience applying project management, quality control, cost control, schedule control, and work flow control techniques.
Experience investigating and analyzing practices and problems and recommending solutions.
