About the Position: as Supervisory Safety & Occupational Health Specialist located at Ft Stewart/Hunter AAF is a southern living station of choice with great climate, easy commuting, no parking fees, good schools, and many surrounding historic sites. Ft Stewart is located next to Hinesville and is about 45 miles from Savannah, GA. Hunter AAF is located next to Savannah. Duties
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that personnel are professionally, technically, and administratively qualified to perform the required duties.
Assists commanders in ensuring proper accident notification and investigation procedures are followed.
Serves as the point of contact for accident information within the command.
Provides technical guidance and assistance to the Division CDR and other deployed commanders and staff officers to ensure compliance with established criteria, mission goals, host nation/foreign policies, and risk management.
Develops information releases concerning the Division Safety Program, and participates in or serves as a featured speaker at conferences to include those involving allied nations.
Represents the Division Commander when attending safety meetings, seminars and conferences.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Incumbent will be required to DEPLOY (world-wide) with assigned/attached units for periods up 365 days. A physical examination for deployment is required.
- Incumbent must possess and be able to maintain a valid stateside driver’s license.
- Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Government Vehicle drivers license within 30 days of employment and be able to maintain the same.
- Incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission requirements.
- Incumbent may be required to perform TDY up to 50% of the time on an annual basis.
- incumbent is required to obtain and maintain standard Army Safety Program certification. Continuous education and training in a tactical field environment is required.
- Incumbent must be able to meet weapons qualifications requirements.
- Work involves frequent visits and temporary duty at field sites as well as deployment and participation in military exercises in a variety of environments.
- This mandates walking, standing, stooping, bending, carrying and similar movements, as well as agility, stamina, and dexterity.
- During deployment, physical demands may be greatly increased and require extended walking with a rucksack weighing up to 50 lbs. Rations and quarters may be similar to that provided to military personnel.
- This position has been designated a Testing Designated Position and is therefore covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program which requires random drug urinalysis testing.
- The military ACU is the duty uniform (when deployed, or in field environments). Incumbent will be issued standard TA-50 for use per local requirements.
- Incumbent will be required to pass a military standard physical examination. A pre-appointment physical examination is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, managing, and administering a safety and occupational health program; formulating, implementing, and interpreting safety policies; identifying, analyzing, and providing risk management control measures; ensuring integration of safety risk management; conducting independent accident investigations; conducting compliance inspections and surveys. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
