The Pharmacogenomics Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner (CPP) functions at the highest level of clinical practice and top of licensure and serves as an advanced practice provider working independently, but collaboratively, with prescribing privileges as outlined in the individual's practice area-based scope of practice. This position is located at the Fayetteville, NC VA Medical Center.
Duties
Pharmacogenomics Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner (CPP) Provider Major Duties include, but are not limited to:
Clinical - Direct Patient Care Activities (20-40%): 1) Functions as an advanced practice provider for CMM services to achieve defined outcomes through direct interactions with patients and providers in assigned care area(s). 2) Functions as part of the interdisciplinary team to provide PGx-based CMM. Clinical - Indirect Patient Care Activities 1) Reviews patient medication regimens for clinical effectiveness, drug selection, dosing, contraindications, side effects, potential drug interactions, and therapeutic outcomes as required. Communicates findings with prescribers and provides appropriate recommendations for alternatives to current treatment plans as needed. Program Management, Educational, and Administration (60-80%): 1) Advocate for the rational and ethical use of PGx testing as part of routine care. 2) Educate healthcare professionals using academic detailing frameworks about PGx principles and appropriate indications and contra-indications for cost effective PGx testing. 3) Provide resources and education that empower patients to make informed healthcare decisions about undergoing PGx testing and understanding their test result. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Incumbent must meet the Pharmacist Qualifications Standards outlined in VA Handbook 5005/55, Part II, Appendix G-15.
BASIC EXPERIENCE:
1. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States.
2. Education - Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
3. Licensure - Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
Applicant's qualifications background must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary to perform the work of the position. Pharmacy work requires knowledge of the use, clinical effects, and composition of medications, including their chemical, biological, and physical properties. Qualifying professional pharmacy experience may involve, but is not limited to: demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities to complete the duties of the position, including the necessary skills to provide care appropriate to the population of the patients served.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions.
Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards for their program area.
Ability to solve problems, coordinate and organize responsibilities to maximize outcomes in their program area or area of clinical expertise.
Expert knowledge of a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice or specialty area of pharmacy.
Advanced skill in monitoring and assessing the outcome of drug therapies, including physical assessment, and interpretation of laboratory, advanced diagnostics, and other diagnostic parameters
GS-13 grade level: One year of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (equivalent to the next lower GS-12 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the Pharmacogenomics Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner (CPP) Providerposition, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Licensure: Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
Loss of Credential: Applicants must be registered and licensed. An employee in this occupation who fails to obtain licensure/certification/registration within the required time frame, or who fails to maintain the required licensure/certification/registration must be removed from the occupation, which may also result in termination of employment.
Preferred Experience: PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, Additional training / experience related to Pharmacogenomics
Physical Requirements: Must be physically and mentally able to efficiently perform the duties of the position. Physical demands of the position may require regular and recurring physical exertion, involve standing for prolonged periods of time, and some bending, stooping, and twisting. This job will include significant time at a computer terminal. Position involves moderate lifting/carrying of 15-44 pounds, use of fingers, both hands required, light walking, near vision correctable, hearing (aid permitted), sitting for extended periods. Applicants must be able to distinguish basic colors.
Education
There is no educational substitution for experience at the GS-13 level.

Education required: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the
