This vacancy is for a Supervisory Budget Analyst in the Department of Commerce (DOC), Office of the Secretary, Office of the Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Secretary for Administration, Office of Budget. The primary function of the Office of Budget is to direct and supervise Department-wide activities in the field of budget formulation, analysis, enactment, and execution as well as performance planning and reporting.

Duties

As a Supervisory Budget Analyst, you will perform the following duties: Examines all budget proposals within assigned program areas for conformance to Departmental goals and objectives, adequacy of justification and appropriation of language, existence of statutory authority, feasibility and economy of the proposals, accuracy and consistency for schedules, and conformity with instructions governing submission of budget estimates. Plans and directs the work of the staff responsible for one or more major and complex program areas of the Department. Develops advance program guidance and plans for resource allocation in accordance with Departmental goals and objectives. Provides staff assistance and advice to Secretarial Officers and other officials within assigned program areas in the preparation of program plans, budgets, and related materials, and in the solution of budgetary and financial problems. Participates in setting performance standards, and prescribes corrective action when problems of accuracy, adequacy, or adherence to quality standards or procedures are encountered.
