This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for certain DoD Personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: As the Construction Superintendent, you will work under the general direction of the Chief of the Mat Sinking Unit. You will exercise independent judgment, action, and authority in planning and executing difficult and technical work programs in accordance with program outlines and objectives.

Duties

Serves as the Assistant Chief of the Mat Sinking Unit with responsibility and authority for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising the field activities of a large hired labor revetment construction operation. Plans, directs, and supervises annual work programs requiring multi-million dollar level of resources, including approximately 325 permanent, seasonal, and temporary trades, crafts, and administrative employees. Provides guidance to subordinate supervisors and establish guidelines on which their actions are based. Reviews and evaluates unit work accomplishments. Evaluates overall program effectiveness.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates the following: planning group operations on a job-by-job basis; revising construction plans as required by changes in site conditions; scheduling projects for a strict timeline; determining work assignments for subordinate supervisors; and reviewing recommendations concerning organizational work plans and priorities.
