About the Position: As the Construction Superintendent, you will work under the general direction of the Chief of the Mat Sinking Unit. You will exercise independent judgment, action, and authority in planning and executing difficult and technical work programs in accordance with program outlines and objectives.
NOTE: The duty location of this position will be wherever the Mat Sinking Unit is located.
Duties
Serves as the Assistant Chief of the Mat Sinking Unit with responsibility and authority for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising the field activities of a large hired labor revetment construction operation.
Plans, directs, and supervises annual work programs requiring multi-million dollar level of resources, including approximately 325 permanent, seasonal, and temporary trades, crafts, and administrative employees.
Provides guidance to subordinate supervisors and establish guidelines on which their actions are based.
Reviews and evaluates unit work accomplishments.
Evaluates overall program effectiveness.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment physical.
- This position requires a pre-employment drug screen, and inclusion in the TDP which requires random drug screening.
- This position require work in inclement weather.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates the following: planning group operations on a job-by-job basis; revising construction plans as required by changes in site conditions; scheduling projects for a strict timeline; determining work assignments for subordinate supervisors; and reviewing recommendations concerning organizational work plans and priorities.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
