These temporary, NTE 1039 hours, positions are located in Indiana Dunes National Park.
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Indiana Dunes National Park is May but can vary due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Duties
Employee will work as part of a field crew to conduct natural resource management duties. Fieldwork may include, set up and sampling vegetation plots to help determine impacts of white-tailed deer on national park resources, monitoring areas for flooding caused by beaver dams and removal of dams, setting up and maintaining automated recording devices (acoustic recorders) for bats, and other wildlife monitoring and management duties. Incumbent may use tools and operate equipment such as chainsaws, brush cutters/clearing saws, hand saws, loppers, pruners, backpack sprayers and herbicide to remove undesirable plants. Incumbent may be required to use an ATV or UTV to access field sites. Project work may be mapped using GIS technology. Work will be adaptive with other tasks assigned as necessary to achieve work goals.
Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: wildlife management or research activities; collecting scientific data on wildlife; implementing/assisting with wildlife monitoring programs; testing and/or assessing wildlife; farm work where scientific methods are used on animals; or other related work. You must include start/end months & hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a full four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours are directly related to the position such as wildlife biology, zoology, ornithology. You must include transcripts.
