About the Position: The Administrative Technician (Office Automation) position supports the Army Health Clinic located at the Carlisle Barracks in Carlisle, PA.

Duties

Provide Administrative support in obtaining and analyzing information or material from files and office records. Perform office management by receiving telephone calls, maintain calendars, compose and review correspondence. Provide clerical support in creating reports and studies by using office automation equipment and software; proficient in systems such as CEFMS, Microsoft outlook, and required to perform duties. Review incoming and outgoing correspondence for completeness and accuracy. Coordinate conferences and meetings by arranging space, time, equipment, and supplies. Collect and analyze and prepare data for interpretation and use throughout the organization. Ensure monitoring of agenda and record keeping of minutes, establish a system to record commitments made during meetings, and ensure appropriate courtesies are afforded to visitors and other high-level officials. Develop and prepare reporting formats, i.e., pie charts, bar charts, and similar items from data for presentation.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore, subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Position requires periodic tuberculosis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using a variety of office automation system; experience with software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power-Point or Excel; managing calendars for scheduling meetings or trainings; and preparing documents such as correspondence, reports, or memorandums. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or a similar field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
