The position has full responsibility for administering all aspects of the local initiative to support the health and well-being of employees. This involves assembling and coordinating the activities of a diverse planning team of health professionals and representatives from various services who will assist the coordinator in planning and implementing educational opportunities, wellness activities, and programs for employees.

Duties

Major Duties include but are not limited to: Establishes and chairs the Employee Whole Health Committee. Assembles a diverse planning team of interdisciplinary health professionals and representatives from various services within the medical center including labor partners. Conducts needs assessment(s) of employees to determine program needs and interests. Develops core program components based on assessment results. Develops and delivers classes, seminars, workshops, etc. on various Employee Whole Health topics including but not limited to nutrition, physical activity, and mental health topics or works to identify and collaborates with relevant subject matter experts. Ensures newly hired employees are trained and oriented to the Employee Whole Health program and key activities as part of new employee orientation (NEO). Integrates concepts, practices and tools that support the WH system of care. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/08/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Basic Qualifications: Degree: Successful completion a full four (4) year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher, with a major study in behavioral science, social science, or related disciplines appropriate to this position behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. or Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. GS-9 Minimum Qualifications: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Development and analysis of relevant data that can be used in preparing analytical and interpretative reports and guides. This requires a basic knowledge of the principles and theoretical concepts of the discipline involved as well as the administrative mechanisms appropriate to the assignment. In addition, it requires the ability to select the pertinent techniques for data collection and to identify aspects of successful program operations which can be used for improving similar programs. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field of the position to be filled. Education at the graduate level must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation.. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond beyond the first year of graduate level. GS-11 Minimum Qualifications: Specialized Experience: I possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal Service that equips me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience may includes: knowledge of principles, techniques, and practices of Employee Whole Health as well as health promotion and employee wellness to plan and perform a wide range of activities related to the planning, development, and implementation of Employee Whole Health programs. knowledge of major VHA initiatives, program goals, and objectives related to the Whole Health Transformation. OR, Education: I successfully completed two (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a PH.D. degree or P.H.D or equivalent Doctoral degree in a related field of the position to be filled. Education at the graduate level must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation OR, Combination: I possess an equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience as described above, to meet the total experience requirements. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do to the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. Experience must be clearly indicated in your resume. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Budget AdministrationComplianceCustomer ServiceProject Management Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: While some of the work is sedentary including researching, writing, program planning and data analysis, the position will have periods of extensive walking and movement throughout the healthcare system, prolonged standing, and transporting light to medium weight objects. The Employee Whole Health coordinator will also be required to travel between sites (CBOCs and outlying clinics) encompassed in the healthcare system.
