About the Position: This position is with Defense Health Agency and located at: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Directorate of RM Financial Management in Portsmouth, VA. The purpose of this position is to provide account maintenance and accounting support work requiring a basic understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures to examine, verify and maintain and reconcile accounts and accounting data, prepare and analyze reports. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Review invoices submitted by vendors Receive concurrence via receipt documents from the Contracting Officer Representative or Supply Representative Process invoices for the command via Wide Area Workflow File invoices properly Excellent communication skills to review invoices with vendors

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required
• This position requires to obtain and maintain a Financial Management Level 1 Certification within 24 months of employment.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing one or more of the following; utilizing an accounting or budget software system, verify or review third party financial claims or billing, assist in basic pay inquiries, maintain ledgers or pay receipts and assisting in consolidating budgets data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as finance, accounting, or business administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.
