The Materials Handler independently accomplishes distribution, issue, stock maintenance and provides proper packaging on all incoming and outgoing shipments in support of the F & E National Airspace System (NAS) and FAA National Programs. Accomplishes inspection, receiving, issue, storage, physical inventory counts, record research and justification of all items processed through the warehouse management system (WMS). Performance of necessary first echelon maintenance as required.
Duties
Responsible for packing and protecting items being shipped. Annotates items shipped and contains number on shipping documents as required. Matches containers, uses computerized scales, attached address labels, and prepares material for shipment via appropriate carrier. Provides guidance to lower graded personnel on the placement, unloading, timing and general movement of materials.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
- Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Pre-employment Physical is required.
- Shift work required.
- Possession of appropriate State and Government vehicle operator's licenses or permits is required.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations.Candidates will be evaluated based on their possession of the general experience required for the position being filled. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and you have the required ability or potential to perform the job.In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following has been determined to be a selective factor for this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
