About the Position: This position is located with U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Riley Kanas.
Duties
Serve as a Logistics Management Specialist (LMS) with the Army Sustainment Command (ASC) in the Support Operations (SPO), Installation Logistics Division (ILD).
Assist in planning and coordinating recurring studies in the development, review, and analysis of logistics facets of or pertaining to contingency, emergency, mobilization plans and operations.
Present results and recommendations to the supervisor.
Maintain liaison and coordination with other directorates, Battalion staff and local officials on development and activation of plans.
Coordinate with and serves as liaison to Garrison staff personnel regarding functions and operation elements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is designated as Emergency Essential (EE).
- Position may require temporary duty (TDY) of 50% length including 6 months in duration or longer in CONUS or OCONUS in austere locations.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain an official passport.
- Incumbent must pass an initial and annual medical examination and receive/remain up to date on required immunization for overseas or deployed location.
- Incumbent must successfully complete on-line computer based training and residential deployment training, as applicable.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with gathering, analyzing data, and formulating recommendations on logistics matters; experience conducting studies to identify and resolve problems concerning logistics operations such as: equipment, vehicle, and facility management, readiness, training, supply, maintenance, transportation, and food service activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph. D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics or Business Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
