About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist at LSE (Logistics Support Element) in Fort Riley, KS.
Duties
Analyze contingency and mobilization plans to ensure readiness concerning all operations.
Coordinate contingency and exercise planning with all logistics elements.
Evaluate mission objectives to determine the kind and extent of support required and coordinate with functional representatives to ensure adequate manpower, supplies, equipment, and services meet specific requirements.
Identify deficiencies regarding support planning and performance and make recommendations for resolutions.
Explain training policies and procedures to managers and employees.
Ensure training requirements are met using automated databases for tracking purposes.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Work involves some travel by military and commercial vehicles and aircraft, as well as to field environment in austere locations.
- Incumbent must be able to lift and carry moderate weights (40 lbs).
- Incumbent may be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a respirator, safety glasses, hearing protectors, special clothing, etc.
- Incumbent may be exposed to excessive heat or cold, dust or fumes; confined spaces or restricted access.
- This is a deployable Department of the Army Civilian position. As such, incumbent must pass an initial and annual medical examination and receive/maintain up-to-date required immunization for the overseas or deployed location.
- Incumbent must be able to perform TDY and be away from the office for extended periods. Position may require Temporary Duty (TDY) of any length including 6 months in duration or longer in CONUS or OCONUS in austere locations.
- This position is designated as Emergency Essential (EE). The incumbent provides immediate and continuing support to combat operations and/or supports maintenance, repair of combat essential systems, and other logistics operations.
- The incumbent must perform duty in a combat zone after evacuation of nonessential personnel in connection with a war, a national emergency declared by Congress or the President.
- The position will not be authorized to be filled by a member subject to recall to active duty as a member of the Armed Forces due to the necessity to perform duties without interruption.
- Incumbent must sign DD Form 2365 and maintain medical, security, passport, performance, honorable conduct and overall fitness suitable for assignment to an austere and stressful combat environment.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain an official passport.
- Incumbent must successfully complete on-line computer based training and residential deployment training, as applicable.
- Recruitment/Relocation/Retention Incentive may be authorized.
- Defense National Relocation Program will NOT be authorized.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Serve as an action officer responsible for the monitoring of logistical plans to facilitate the movement of required supplies to include manpower; 2). Coordinate logistical support regarding exercise scenarios to sustain the development of emergency operations; and 3). Analyze logistical services throughout the establishment to maintain the highest level of readiness.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
