This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Library Buildings and Grounds, Facilities Operations Division, Maintenance Branch. The Maintenance Mechanic performs a mixture of electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning work of buildings and facilities. The work includes, but not limited to corrective and/or preventative maintenance, repair and installation of commercial/industrial air condition and heating systems, plumbing systems and electrical systems.

You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the job announcement.You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position.
You may qualify at the WG-10 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: Ability to perform work in mechanical trade occupations without more than normal supervision; specifically maintenance and repair of mechanical, heating, air-conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing and fire sprinkler work. Work should include intermediate journey level experience in emergency and routine repairs of facilities, reading mechanical, electrical and structural drawings and blueprints.
You may qualify at the WG-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: Ability to perform work in mechanical trade occupations independently and without more than normal supervision; specifically maintenance and repair of mechanical, heating, air-conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing and fire sprinkler work. Work should include journey level experience operating, repairing and maintaining buildings and building support systems including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, and structural systems and applying advance techniques in mechanical and system functions.
