You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PIPING INTERNAL SHOP MANAGER in the Pipe Shop (Code 960) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will review approve, and direct work operations in the execution of a a project within an assigned zone of work. You will develop performance standards and evaluate work performance of subordinates. You will initiate or attend meetings concerning work status. You will coordinate with inside shops, ship's force, and various shipyard departments for testing. You will identify and resolve changing work situations which result in conflicts in work schedule due to sequence, space, mutually exclusive work, material, growth work, and other considerations.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience serving at the first level supervisor level (WS-10). Experience making decisions in difficult situations and identifying and resolving changing work situations. Experience applying principles, concepts, and practices concerning the Piping Shop. Experience identifying and resolving changing work situations. Experience monitoring Cost and Schedule Performance and taking actions to correct negative trends. Experience applying basic knowledge of Project Management Fundamentals.
