About the Position Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating training on Casualty, Mortuary Affairs, Post Cemetery, Mass Casualty, Military Burial Honors, Line of Duty (LOD), Soldier and Family Pre-Deployment Training, Summary Courts Martial Officer, and Initial Training to Casualty Assistance Center Staff.
Duties
Serve as the Casualty Assistance Center Training Instructor with responsibility for developing, implementing, training Soldiers and Civilians, including Military Funeral Honors teams, Casualty Notification Officers, and Casualty Assistance Officers.
Determine detailed subjects and references to be included in Programs of Instruction following the scope of instruction and guidance received on background material and objectives.
Participate in task analyses for determining training requirements in training and testing materials and specialized learning programs.
Provide assistance to other Casualty employees: Casualty Operations Manager, Benefits Coordinator, Memorial Affairs Coordinator, and Training Instructor.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10%.
- Incumbent performs 24-hour casualty assistance duties and must be immediately available to respond.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year trial period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
- This is a Term Appointment NTE 3 years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilize automated database systems to retain and input training data; Collect training data to create reports; Support other casualty or mortuary affairs employees in the performance of their duties; AND Ensure training course information is complete and accurate; Perform duties to support an educational or training program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work at the next grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as Education..

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Position may be filled as a Term appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond 6 six years, but not more than 8 years.
