You will serve as a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Director for Administration, Security Division of BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY.
Duties
You will assist with the changing of locks and combinations to include providing access to doors and turn stile operated on automated security system.
You will process Department of Defense (DOD) building and Joint Chiefs of Staff access badges for Navy.
You will prepare necessary documentation and modifications of Joint Personnel Adjudication Systems (JPAS).
You will utilize investigative parameters and the requirements of the Personnel Security investigative process and associated allowable access determinations.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience performing security debriefings regarding access to collaterally classified information.
Experience ensuring accurate and timely completion of final clearance actions and related entries of final security actions through daily monitoring of the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) or similar systems.
Experience applying comprehensive security regulations and criteria to specific situations and circumstances encountered in the performance of making access determinations.
Experience utilizing standardized rules, procedures, terminology, or requirements to perform processing of security clearance actions.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related
