This position is located in the DoD Office of General Counsel (OGC) and the Defense Legal Services Agency (DLSA). The DoD General Counsel is the Chief Legal Officer of the Department of Defense. As such, they have responsibility for all legal services within and involving the Department. The Administrative Support Specialist serves as the Administrative Assistant, trusted agent, administrative advisor, and key member of Office of the Deputy General Counsel (Acquisition & Logistics) and OGC.
Duties
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:
Exercises control over scheduling of appointments, meetings, telephone calls, conferences, speaking engagements, and travel as well as work-related obligations.
Coordinates with senior offices and internal directorate support staffs to schedule calendar items and to resolve calendar conflicts.
Provides administrative coordination for staff actions, and prepares, reviews, and revises correspondence.
Manages logistics, including, but not limited to ordering and organizing office supplies for the office, maintaining files (electronically and in hard copy), serving as the Records Liaison, performing time and attendance duties for the Office, requesting facilities and information technology services and making travel arrangements within the United States and abroad.
Implements new administrative/management policies and procedures.

- This position may require up to 5% occasional travel away from your normal duty station for official business on military or commercial aircraft
- This position may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or mandatory overtime

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: 1) Managing the day-to-day administrative support and operations functions such as planning and coordinating calendar items, logistics, and travel; 2) Conducting research and analysis of information and data to solve problems and recommend ways to improve work processes; And 3) Participating in developing administrative and management policies and procedures to meet an organization's objectives.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
