About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Cold Regions Research Engineer Lab (CRREL). GS 9: $57,118 - $74,250 GS 10: $62,898 - $81,771 GS 11: $69,107 - $89,835

Duties

Perform construction inspection and/or construction management duties involving the mechanical systems in the erection of new structure or major repair of an existing structure. Develop and prepare design concepts, design studies, maintenance and repair of refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, and exhaust systems. Consult with and advise project engineers and others as to the availability of equipment and facilities to support projects. Support engineering staff in duties associated with space utilization, energy monitoring and real property maintenance. Approve contract changes to the plans that may alter basic design or involve additional costs. Conduct on-site pre-inspections and final inspections of construction projects. Create and update an energy conservation and sustainment plan. Review architect-engineer and in-house designs. Develop and administer training. If selected at the GS 9 or GS 10 level, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity.

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-9). Minimum Qualifications GS 11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Applying a wide range of technical engineering methods and techniques using pneumatics, mechanics, electricity, refrigeration, and heat; Developing plans to improve present heating and cooling systems; and Preparing report of findings on the effective performance and functionality of mechanical systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: DesignMechanical EngineeringTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08/09/10).
