Unpaid internships with DFC are offered year round in Washington, D.C., and can last from 12 weeks to 12 months. Duties vary based on the department and/or office in which the intern is placed. DFC's Internship Program offers valuable experience that contributes to educational and professional growth, and may be applied in any future employment endeavor, including federal, state and local governments or in the private sector.
Duties
DFC is seeking an intern to support gender equity and inclusivity integration across our sectoral transactions, specifically through the 2X Women's Empowerment Initiative. The intern will assist the Senior Gender Equity Specialist and other teams within the Office of Development Policy (Development Impact, Technical Assistance, Social and Environmental Risk) as needed with:
Tracking 2X transactions as they come through the DFC deal cycle, cleaning, reviewing, and analyzing data related to 2X Women's Initiative transactions (i.e.: geographic distribution, sector distribution, eligibility criteria, etc.)
Tracking pipeline and active projects receiving Technical Assistance via the 2X Technical Assistance Program.
Creating a "databank" of DFC transactions that reflect gender inclusivity across sectors, regions and types of products.
Supporting agency wide trainings and development of tools and resources related to integration of gender equity and inclusion across transactions.
Other activities as needed.
Requirements
- Must be suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation
- Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt
- Must be actively enrolled (at least part-time) in an accredited college or university
- U.S. Citizenship is required
Qualifications
Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled at least part-time in an accredited institution of higher education pursuing a Master's degree or equivalent. Successful completion of a background investigation is also required.

Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time in an accredited college or university in a relevant graduate degree program.

PASS/FAIL COURSES:
If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
