The primary purpose of this position is to lead three or more workers to accomplish trades and/or labor work on a substantially full time and continuing basis. Leader is responsible to both perform the work assigned by a supervisor and ensures that subordinates completed assigned work consistent with trades and labor standards.
Duties
Leads a team of trades and/or labor workers
Performs nonsupervisory trades and/or labor work that is usually of the same kind and level as members of the work crew led
Leads 4 or more Aircraft Painters (WG-4102-07 through WG-10) in performing depot level maintenance on various assigned aircraft, maintaining a current knowledge, and answering questions on procedures, policies, written instructions, and technical orders
Preparation for application of coatings and materials.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4100 Painting And Paperhanging Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Skill in applying various aircraft surface preparation methods and techniques: Matching, tinting, toning, and blending coating materials; applying accepted coating methods and techniques including special finishing techniques for aircraft surfaces, parts, and components.
Skill in operating plastic media/sand blast, chemical, and high pressure cleaning systems of washing, stripping/blasting, and cleaning aircraft part and components.
Knowledge of accepted surface preparation, application and repair of coating methods/techniques including corrosion identification and repair, special finishing techniques; paints and thinning additives required for various aircraft.
Knowledge of the operations and functions of a number of aircraft parts/components and the methods of removal and installation so that the parts and components are not damaged or misaligned. Knowledge of a number of aircraft systems, subsystems, and assemblies such as electrical circuit breakers and hydraulic systems. Skill in preparing aircraft and aircraft parts for servicing, towing, repairing, blasting, and painting/coating.
Skill in reading and interpreting instructions, specifications, blueprints, and technical order.
Knowledge of environmental, safety, tool control and security requirements, directives, and procedures pertaining to aircraft depot maintenance.
Knowledge of recordkeeping, documentation, and other administrative tasks associated with aircraft maintenance and repair.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
