This position is located within the Texas Army National Guard J2 at 71st EMIB SCIF, San Antonio, Texas. The purpose of this position is to serve as Chief, Special Security Office for the state.
Duties
Security Specialist
Initiates and implements policies and procedures required to manage sensitive compartmented information (SCI) programs and to protect SCI resources.
Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of SCI protection and security.
Serves as the SCI Control Officer responsible for establishing, managing, and controlling all collateral and SCI classified information and material within the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) affecting the Unit's mission.
Implements the SCI security clearance program for all assigned personnel, ensuring all required clearances are up-to-date and completed.
Works directly for the intelligence unit commander/Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO), reporting on the administration of the Special Security Office and SCI-associated security programs.
Administers the SCI security clearance program for all assigned personnel, ensuring all required clearances are up-to-date and completed.
Provides oversight of unit and SSO security self-inspections and presents detailed and comprehensive reports with corrective action taken to the unit intelligence commander/SIO.
Represents the intelligence unit to a variety of installation and functional areas, including national-level organizations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level your resume must include relevant experience/education with beginning and ending dates reflecting the following:
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Experience completing and managing the day-to-day operational duties within the Special Security Office in support of all sensitive compartmented information-associated security programs and measures. Experience researching and analyzing reports on physical, information, computer, and personnel security. Experience conducting intelligence support operations, procedures, and practices that are necessary to accomplish intelligence functions in support of programs essential to state National Guard daily operations, training, and readiness missions. Experience implementing policies and procedures required to manage sensitive compartmented information programs and to protect sensitive compartmented information resources.

Education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
Or LL.M., if related.
OR
Combination of Experience and Education:
A combination of education and specialized experience totaling 100 percent of the requirements for the GS-09 position. (e.g., 6 months of specialized experience at the GS-09 level is 50% and 18 months of higher level graduate education is 50% with a total of 100%)
