About the Position: This position is located in the Defense Health Agency (DHA) at San Antonio, Texas under the policy guidance and direction of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (ASD (HA)).

Duties

Serves as a Security Specialist and acts as an advisor to the Lead Security Specialist in DHA J-34 on all aspects of Antiterrorism program management. Assists in the development and implementation of the Antiterrorism program as stipulated in mission and tasks outlined in DoD, DHA directives, regulatory requirements and command guidance. Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of the overarching Antiterrorism program posture and recommends priorities for the development of sound antiterrorism policies and processes. Assists in the development of long and short-range goals and objectives for the Strategic Plan and critical key performance indicators. Conducts routine staff assistance visits and higher headquarters Antiterrorism/Protection Program Reviews of subordinate DHA sites. Responsible for the planning, development, synchronization and execution of the comprehensive Antiterrorism Exercise and Evaluation Program which provides for realistic Antiterrorism exercise scenarios across the DHA enterprise.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within the first two years of employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete the Antiterrorism Level II Course.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
