The Supply Technician serves Dental Service, South Texas Health Care System (STVHCS). This position will be responsible for providing daily direction and oversight of Equipment, Instruments and Supplies for the 96 treatment rooms associated with all the dental clinics and supply chains within dental service in all 5 different locations. The incumbent functions under the supervision of the Dental Service Administrative Officer.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The incumbent will require extensive knowledge of the VA directives ordering supplies, entering data into SEPG/EER and requesting equipment specific to a dental service. Will enter work orders and coordinate installs with SME for equipment from orders received from contracting.
The incumbent will provide oversight of supplies and equipment entering and leaving the dental service. The incumbent should have a thorough knowledge of dental procedures, equipment and supplies used in a dental clinic.
The incumbent will work with the SMEs to get the proper equipment into the system in a timely manner. This will include assisting the SMEs in obtaining and completing market research, salient and technical specifications, and sole source justifications if indicated.
Collaborate with Logistics and the SM Es to complete equipment request packages to include completion of VA Form 6500.6, 6550dir15.pdf, and the Independent government cost estimate along with the market research, salient and technical specifications and sole source justification.
Utilize the automated inventory management system, such as General Inventory Package (GIP) or other equivalent system, to maintain current inventory data. Meet the requirements of the Annual EIL and reporting any missing items to the Supervisors/Service Chief.
Submit equipment and instrument turn-in requests and schedule pick up times at each location. Monitor Temp Traks - receives notifications of all alert that are outside range of the correct temperatures to maintain dental instrument and material integrity.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/28/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.

Preferred Experience:
3-5 yrs of inventory management
Experience with VISTA
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary but will require frequent walking and standing. Also, occasional bending, lifting and carrying supplies, instruments. The work does not require any special physical effort. The work involves some degree of physical effort in entering work orders, supply orders. Work may require periodic travel by automobile to other work sites, i.e., ALM, KMC, DPC and Randolph.
