This position is assigned to Dental Service, South Texas Health Care System (STVHCS). The incumbent functions under the supervision of the Dental Service Administrative Officer. The position will be located at the Data Point Dental Clinic along with the Service Chief and or Assistant Chief and Administrative Officer. The primary purpose of this position is maintaining the equipment, instrument and supply chains within dental service in all 5 different locations.
Duties
This position will be responsible for providing daily direction and oversight of Equipment, Instruments and Supplies for the 96 treatment rooms associated with all the dental clinics. The Dental Service providers include staff and fee basis providers, primary care dentists, specialists, oral surgeons, AEGD residents, hygienists, dental assistants located at Datapoint, ALM (OMS and GEM), Kerrville Randolph and the North West Health Care Clinic. The incumbent will act as a liaison between Dental Service and SPS, Logistics and BioMed. The incumbent will collaborate with the service SME's to order and stock supplies, instruments and equipment. The incumbent will require extensive knowledge of the VA directives ordering supplies and requesting equipment specific to a dental service. The incumbent will provide oversight of supplies and equipment entering and leaving the dental service. The incumbent should have a thorough knowledge of dental procedures, equipment and supplies used in a dental clinic.
Work Schedule: M-F, 0800-1630

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/07/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary but will require frequent walking and standing. Also, occasional bending, lifting and carrying supplies, instruments. The work does not require any special physical effort. The work involves some degree of physical effort in entering work orders, supply orders. Work may require periodic travel by automobile to other work sites, i.e., ALM, KMC, DPC and Randolph.
