This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for certain personnel of the DoD workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Duties

Serve as a Data Scientist with skills in big data storage and processing, building data pipelines, and overseeing extract, transform, and load (ETL). Creating or developing the data architecture with analysis based on sound data and knowledge of information systems and design. Analyze a variety of data sources to provide data-driven insights to the organizations to streamline processes. Align data architecture with organizational business requirements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Education Requirement: Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, applicants must meet specialized experience requirements: One year of specialized experience which includes: analyze a variety of data sources to provide data-driven insights for the organizations to streamline processes; apply data science and novel machine learning techniques and algorithms; manage complex data sets and performing extensive analysis of volumes of data sufficient to design and deliver frameworks to facilitate data development lifecycle and design; disseminate findings through published technical reports, papers, and presentations at meeting and conferences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-12).
