The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups.
Duties
This Information Technology Specialist provides assistance with day-to-day operations and administration of information technology systems within the Office of the United States Attorney.
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Information Technology Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located in Brooklyn, New York, focusing in the areas of technical and advisory assistance to support information management needs.
Typical work assignments will include:
Assists in planning and delivering customer support information technology services;
Installs, integrates and maintains networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats;
Uses knowledge of information systems security principles to test and implement security programs;
Develops and coordinates litigation support.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirement and Specialized Experience as noted below.
Basic Requirement:
You must have information technology (IT)-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing IT work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses IT information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies IT problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
To qualify at the GS-07 level, you must possess:
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) two (2) of the three (3) duties listed below:
Applying IT principles, methods and/or practices to perform routine assignments;
Identifying and/or resolving IT issues/problems;
Providing IT related information and/or assistance to internal or external customers.
OR
Possess one full year of graduate education in a closely related field (e.g., computer science, information systems management, technology management), or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
OR
(Superior Academic Achievement) - A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or a degree that provided 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks, and meet at least one of the following criteria: class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 OR at least a 3.0 based on courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; a GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses completed in my major field OR based on the average of required courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; or election to membership on a national scholastic honor society.
