The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups.
Duties
This Information Technology Specialist provides technical and advisory assistance to support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO).
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Information Technology Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located in Brooklyn, New York, focusing in the areas of customer support, IT systems/network administration, information systems security, internet, and litigation support services.
Typical work assignments will include:
Providing customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training in response to user requirements.
Performing testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, maintenance and management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in data, voice and/or video format.
Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
Designing, developing, testing, and implementing internet, intranet, and extranet activities, including technical management of websites.
Coordinating litigation support services (including trial preparation and presentation) in response to customer needs.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required basic requirement AND specialized experience or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
Basic Requirement:
You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

3. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must also possess:
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) two (2) of the three (3) duties listed below:
Assisting in the installation and/or maintenance of information technology assignments;
Providing information and/or assistance to customers; OR
Ensuring application of appropriate security measures.
OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree; or a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level.
