You will serve as a Production Controller located in the Production Control Branch, within the Maintenance, Engineering, & Industrial Operations Department, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport Washington (NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA).

Duties

You will provide support for planning efforts related to Depot Division monitoring, reporting and taking necessary corrective actions to ensure major production programs finish within established financial and schedule controls. You will act as a liaison with the first line supervisors, technical project managers, Branch Heads and divisions on planning and financial issues related to Depot projects. You will work with the Integrated Product Teams (IPT) for several moderate projects or one large complex project. You will assist with preparing production plans for specific projects and operations through the compilation of customer requirements, engineering designs, specifications, and Shop Workload Management Systems (SWMS) data. You will use experience and knowledge for the repair of products/projects using multiple process production methods and procedures to develop information necessary for the control of a single complex product or for numerous simple products. You will advise Depot Supply Managers on material requirements and advises on procurement activities necessary to support production schedule due dates. You will compile estimates for different types of skilled labor and the number of worker-hours required for production operations. You will Incorporate material requirements and costs, capacity plans and develop a scheduled delivery rate for production related efforts. You will assist higher level Production Controllers with identifying planning program requirements. You will evaluate both internal and external stakeholders Cost, Schedule, and Performance/Quality metrics to ensure that the production plan is realistic and that the Depot is within acceptable levels of project performance. You will analyze financial reports, draft and review phased production plans, and resolve issues when they are identified. You will retrieve reports and analyzes data for Depot production planning and scheduling. You will assist in developing shop processes and leverage the production software best practices in order to create an environment that supports Depot Repair capability. You will assist with coordinating Depot Level Repairable turnaround tasks related to planning in the Depot Division. You will coordinate pre-production planning, production planning execution, post-production analysis, and manage specific major program elements including resources and execution of efforts. You will evaluate department personnel requirements and makes estimates in these requirements based on program changes. You will receive on-the-job training, work assignments, and formal training to increase knowledge and skills in project management and business/financial areas.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting in coordinating, budgeting and monitoring of planning and execution of production work in support of warfare systems and subsystems projects. Examples of specialized experience may include: Assisting in preparing production plans for projects; assisting in coordinating or managing the manufacture, overhaul, or repair of mechanical/electronic equipment; assisting in compiling estimates of labor and resource requirements for less complex projects; utilizing automation tools to manage, review or monitor production issues and related documents.
