About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Security Assistant for the National Museum of the United States (NMUSA). Performs a full range of duties to include overseeing the protection of government property against hazards of damage, theft, trespassing, espionage, riot and limited law enforcement at access control points.

Duties

Advises, counsels, and instructs employees on work and administrative matters. Responsible for limited law enforcement at all entry control points. Briefs the supervisor of Security Guards of any actions by security force personnel which may result in unfavorable public notice and events or conditions. Conducts job interviews for security guard/assistant applicants, determines acceptability. Enforces administrative rules and regulations governing traffic control, parking, building or other facility access, and physical security breaches and trespassing.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete CPR certification.
  • Position is designated as mission essential with varying hours and work schedules--incumbent will be expected to report to or remain at her/his worksite during dismissal or closure situations.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
