The primary purpose of this position is in conjunction with the Production Superintendent (Pro Super), to assign priorities to aircraft production efforts, to direct action to resolve resource shortages, and to maintain liaison among aircraft maintenance management. Perform a variety of preliminary and immediate control tasks regarding the maintenance and inspection of aircraft propulsion units.

Duties

Provides both present and projected status information to prescribed managerial personnel. As daily events occur, maintains MIS data integrity regarding maintenance flying schedule requirements. Maintains liaison with the Maintenance Coordinating Function (MCF) of the Command Post. Functions as the Engine Tracking/Comprehensive Engine Management System (CEMS) Data Base Monitor. Processes all engine download data from supplied software that concerns engine hour recording and time, temperature, cycle recording, I.E. Turbine Engine Monitoring System (TEMS) or Comprehensive Engine.

  • Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate SECRET security clearance
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-7, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes working with recurring manufacture, overhaul, or repair of products or projects using multiple-process production methods and procedures to develop plans and information necessary for the control of complex products such as airframes of fixed and rotary wing aircraft or a variety of complex and long-term facility repair and construction projects; Using product and manufacturing terminology, data, and standards, and determining how to relate them to new projects; Observing and analyzing production operations to determine if schedules are being followed, if they can be improved and determining the causes of production delays. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of assigned equipment and ability to interpret military aircraft and manufacturing terminology, technical orders, data, standards, and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up. 2. Knowledge of maintenance organizational structures and skill in the distribution of personnel to obtain a balance in workload and skill of appropriate production/technical processes and material posture of maintenance work centers to assure continuing availability of material requirement. 3. Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspection, repair, modification, and supply processes. 4. Skill in effective written and oral communication. Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular workload requirements. 5. Ability and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to collect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions. 6. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, technical manuals, and directives to determine applicability. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
