You will serve as an Electronics Technician in the Fleet Technical Support Division, Engineering and Planning Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Your primary duties will be troubleshooting and assessing Advanced Sonar systems found onboard submarines and providing training to the system operators.

Duties

You will provide technical assistance on urgent mission degrading problems affecting major shipboard systems. You will provide technical guidance to mangers during repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems including development and direction of test programs and on the spot evaluations of repairs. You will participate as a team member in pier side and at sea functional checkouts, grooms, adjustments and repair of shipboard systems.

Requirements

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position requires work onboard ships.

Qualifications

For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing electronics technical services in support of the testing and inspection of shipboard acoustic systems to diagnose and resolve technical problems during ship repair or overhaul activities. For GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: overseeing electronics technical services in support of shipboard acoustic systems to include the testing and technical assistance for diagnosing and resolving technical problems during ship repair or overhaul activities.
