You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the NAVY CLOSURE TASK FORCE - RED HIL DIVISION of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII.
Duties
You will analyze environmental issues to formulate alternative plans for environmental compliance.
You will assess environmental compliance with petroleum oil liquid spill response, hazard waste or materials spill response, and petroleum oily liquid storage procedures.
You will defend controversial environmental policy and technical matters associated with environmental remediation of site contaminated with ordnance.
You will develop short and long-term objectives, milestones, and timelines for environmental projects to support an organization's mission.
You will partner with station and tenant activities to coordinate disposal of hazardous material and waste.
You will propose changes to programs based on regulatory requirements and pertinent statutes to maintain environmental compliance.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- The position requires the incumbent to be on-call and available 24 hours a day unless in an authorized leave or temporary duty status. Incumbent may be required to work overtime.
- Incumbent may be required to take part in readiness exercise and real world response action.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Interpreting federal, state, and local environmental compliance laws, regulations, documentation and reporting requirements, lawmaking and rulemaking processes to assess the impact of an organization's activities on public safety, ecology, and environment; 2) Applying concepts and practices of leadership and management to facilitate resolutions to organizational and personal conflict; 3) Providing technical and professional guidance to an organization's environmental compliance program; 4) Assessing the impact of an installation's activities on public safety, ecology, and environment; 5) Using knowledge and skill in the concepts and practices of leadership and management to facilitate resolutions for organizational and personal conflicts.
