The Science Mission Directorate (SMD) at NASA Headquarters is seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Executive Officer. As part of the SMD Administration Branch, the individual will collaborate and work with senior executives and management, and SMD's partners (NASA centers, other federal agencies, universities, laboratories, etc.), to push forward the goals and aspirations of the Artemis Generation in advancing the Nation in the discovery and exploration of space and Earth science.
Duties
Own the process for SMD executive communication, and for studies, analyses, and other activity requiring executive action by monitoring deadlines, actions, and leadership decisions to ensure timely execution in accordance with established processes.
Lead teams and compile data to recommend process improvements to streamline project execution or other administrative areas of interest.
Serve as subject matter expert for executive communication and correspondence, and strategic advisor for executive coordination.
Lead strategic communications and engagement activities on behalf of SMD senior leaders.
Ensure organizational compliance with administrative functions, requirements, and guidelines and provide proactive guidance and assistance to employees and senior leadership on these matters.
Lead planning for capacity- and community-building activities and initiatives on behalf of SMD.
Maintain positive relationships with counterparts across NASA organizations and centers.
Ensure alignment of activities within SMD through close coordination with other members of the SMD Administrative Branch.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:
Tracking and monitoring project deadlines, actions, and leadership decisions to ensure commitments are being met;
Leading or advising on process improvements to streamline project execution based on best practices and lessons learned;
Providing proactive guidance and assistance to employees and senior leadership on administrative functions, requirements, and guidelines to maximize transparency, ensure compliance, and maintain alignment of activities.
