This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administrator (DEA), Intelligence Division.
This position(s) primary purpose is to support the Office of Intelligence Programs, Indicator Programs Section, Publications Unit (NIIP-DCFA).

As a Editor your typical work assignments may include:
Reviews and edit a variety of documents on behalf of the Agency in preparation for publication in DEA manuals.
Ensures that written text is consistent and grammatically and factually correct.
Writes and/or edits materials utilizing an extensive knowledge in a variety of subject areas to provide interpretation and explanation of wide range of subjects.
Ensures that material is clearly presented and appropriate for the level of the audience, and ensure conclusions are valid and supported.
Oversees editing of intelligence documents in conjunction with analytic writing standards. Ensures all intelligence publications are accurate, concise, well-structured, contain logical presentation, adhere to analytic writing standards.
Reconciles contradictions in the information gathered whenever possible or develops balanced treatments of controversial matters when editing written products.
Employs highest standards in editing Intelligence products/manuscripts and preparing them for publication.
Initiates and maintains relationships with subject-matter specialists responsible for preparing the material. Periodically assesses subject-matter specialist editorial standards for adherence to the preparation of products.
Serves as Senior editor for DEA's Intelligence products.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
GS-12: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing the following duties: writing and/or editing material utilizing an extensive experience in a variety of subject areas to provide interpretation and explanation of a wide range of subjects in preparation of publication in manuals; proof reads a variety of draft or final reports, documents and correspondence; and changes or rewrites paragraphs for organization, balance, style, proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
GS-13: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing the following duties: writing and/or editing material utilizing an extensive experience in a variety of subject areas to provide interpretation and explanation of a wide range of subjects in preparation of publication in manuals. Independently researches factual information and verifies the information through discussion with program specialists; facilitates collaborative and team editing events; reviews and ensures materials meet approved editorial standards; and recommends major changes in the organization, presentation and factual coverage of products.
