This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of the Administrator. This position(s) primary purpose is to support the responsible for managing the review and edits of DEA policies as well as executive correspondence which requires the approval of the Chief of Compliance Officer, Principal Deputy Administrator, and Administrator of DEA.

As a Writer, your typical work assignments may include: Managing all phases of DEA's policy administration process, including drafting written documents that communicate critical policies and procedures related to DEA's enforcement Title 21 authorities, as well as administrative, fiscal, and laboratory operations. Reviews, drafts and coordinates policy review activities in conjunction with DEA stakeholders, DOJ components and other higher level federal authorities. Manages and configures SharePoint sites, including site creation, permissions management, and user access control. Researches, gathers, and checks the accuracy of information in externally facing documents for the public, Congress, White House, or other federal agencies. Prepares briefing papers and talking points for executive staff. Implements new methods and procedures where necessary, to improve efficiency of style and presentation. Maintains awareness of current government writing and reporting style and format requirements,and works directly with senior officials to resolve questions about its content. Orally communicates project status to senior level management and other's as applicable.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to a GS-12: 1) Writing, reviewing and editing documents such as reports, decision memos, policies, procedures, standard operating procedures, and other forms of written communication products; 2) Researching, preparing, updating policies; 3) Preparing, writing presentations for management; 4) Utilizing SharePoint Designer to publish documents and manage sites. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
