The office of the Chief of Primary Care Medicine Service encompasses the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System which includes the Northern Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and the Southern Community-Based Outpatient Clinics along with Lee County Healthcare Center( LCHCC). Incumbent serves as the Administrative Support Assistant for the Office of Primary Care Medicine Service and functions in collaboration with the Administrative Officer and the Chief of Primary Care.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Functions as Senior Timekeeper for assigned staff.
Maintains the calendar for the Chief, Primary Care Medicine Service, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Bay Pines, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the Northern Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and the Administrative Officer. Schedules all pertinent meetings and appointments.
Oversees the maintenance of current and new clinical privileges and certification of licensure for the physicians.
Oversees the incoming/outgoing correspondence and performs any necessary routing and distribution.
Responsible for planning, fact-finding, and evaluation techniques for the identification, consideration and resolution of issues and/or problems of a procedural or factual nature as they relate to Primary Care Medicine Service.
Provides direct support to Chief, Primary Care, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Bay Pines VAHCS, Chief Medical Officer for the Northern Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), and the Administrative Officer for Primary Care Medicine Service.
Coordinates the Medical Record and Peer Review program for the PCMS staff as needed.
Compiles the schedule of reviews and ensures proper completion and timely submission of the reviews. May conduct quality assurance and/or administrative reviews as requested.
Engages in the important role in the conduct of public relations liaison for PCMS as a representative of the Chief or Administrative Officer.
Demonstrates the ability to function as an effective member of the PCMS team as well as maintaining good intra-departmental relationships.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/22/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1) Ability to provider program administrative and technical assistance in the the day to day operations, program planning for PANS. 2) Provides staffer support to the Chief of Primary Care Medicine Service and Medical Management Specialist for committee and workgroup functions to include coordinating location and information technology needs and tracking any follow up and action items from the committees and workgroups. 3) Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately. Meets the needs of co-workers in a positive customer service oriented manner.

Physical Requirements: The incumbent must have the ability to work under pressure and constant interruptions. There are no specific physical demands. Work requires some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as books, folders and papers.
