About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Surgery, Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) with the Defense Health Agency, Indo-Pacific Market.

Duties
In this position you will perform the duties below, but not be limited to the following:
Set up for and assists with the performance of surgical procedures including vasectomy and circumcision.
Clean equipment and prepares procedure rooms for sterilization.
Teach new urology technicians how to prepare for common procedures (i.e. prostate ultrasounds, biopsies, minor surgical procedures, limited urologic radiologic procedures to include fluoroscopy procedures, etc.).
Administer medications via intravesical route as well as topical medications for treatment.
Assist with obtaining lab tests.
Schedule appointments, follows up on referrals and clinical documents.
Review medical records of patients to determine the reason for procedure(s), and analyze past medical history prior to the procedure.

- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations and for evidence of tuberculosis unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
- CMT, CMA, CNA license or educational equivalent required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. One year of specialized experience which includes: preparing procedure area and instruments for medical procedures, assisting the Physician during routine or diagnostic procedures, performing basic maintenance and sterilization methods to clean instruments and equipment, and scheduling appointments, assisting with labs, referrals, and clinical documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06)

Education: At least one full year of graduate level education from an accredited college or university with major courses of study in fields such as Nursing, or Medical Assisting. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
