This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is an Engineering Technician position with Little Rock District, Engineering and Construction. This position may be filled at the GS-07, GS-08 or filled at the full performance GS-09 grade level. Promotion to the full performance grade is at the discretion of management.

Duties

Utilizing CADD (computer-aided design and drafting) software to prepare project drawings. Developing project specifications utilizing an automated specification writing system. Communicating with engineers to include architects, and other technicians as part of a multi-disciplined design team. Gathering design documents to be included in a solicitation package.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. FOR GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Assisting with developing project drawings using CADD (computer-aided design and drafting) software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). FOR GS-08: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Developing project drawings using CADD (computer-aided design and drafting) software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). FOR GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Preparing three-dimensional (3-D) models for design analysis and drawing developments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
