This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This is an Engineering Technician (Civil) position located in the Design Branch Infrastructure Safety Section Little Rock, AR.
Duties
Coordinate collection and evaluation of data from instrument readings at the district?s dam and levee dam projects.
Manage the automated instrumentation systems by downloading of data, troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
Provide assistance to Team Leader and Section Chief in the coordination of Dam Safety and Levee Safety activities for the district's dam and levee projects.
Review subsurface boring data to include geologic reports, laboratory soil classifications and test data furnished by field and laboratory personnel.
Test data furnished by field and laboratory personnel.
Evaluate data anomalies to include conflicts prior to preparing final boring logs and soil profiles.

Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service: 1) Performing inspections on existing civil work structures such as levees, dams, and embankments. AND 2) Planning inspections on existing civil work structures to include budgeting and report findings.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
