The primary purpose of this position, ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-2610-13, is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, program, calibrate and rebuild multi-system complexes consisting of several complete integrated systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions.

Duties

Install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, program, calibrate and rebuild complete multi-systems such as Energy Management-and Control Systems (EMCS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Fire Detection/Reporting Systems, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and other. complex functions performed by numerous systems which are extensively interconnected with data feedback loops and accomplish a number of major functions. Set up and operate software controlled automated test stations to run established and new diagnostic programs in various test modes to test and troubleshoot multi-system complexes. Use and maintain hand and power tools, precision. measurement tools and test equipment. Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment. Analyze equipment failure and malfunctions and suggests changes to improve operation.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is: Ability to Do the Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Theory of Electronics Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Ingenuity (Ability to Suggest and Apply New Methods) PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Heavy physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing 25 pounds or more with assistance. The work requires standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods of time on concrete. Climbing, operating and riding High Lifts and working in high places may be required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee can work in areas that are wll lighted to poorly lighted, from climate controlled to exposure to ambient temperatures. Work is mostly performed in mechanical rooms, communication rooms and sometimes outside in inclement weather. Exposure to the possibility of electric shock, burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder.
