About the Position: This position serves as an instructor providing formal instructional classes to military and civilian students explosives safety management, transportation of hazardous materials, characteristics of ammunition and explosives, and preservation and packaging of Department of Defense assets.

Duties

Serve as an instructor preparing and presenting formal instructional classes to world-wide locations relating to explosives safety, transportation of hazardous materials, packaging and ammunition logistics, and chemical surety. Conduct lectures, conferences, case studies, demonstrations, practical exercises, examinations and critiques for assigned courses. Provide advice on explosives safety, material readiness, logistics, stockpile reliability, and chemical surety. Provide academic counseling to students.

Requirements

  • Incumbent may be expected to travel for this position 40 % of the time to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience such as experience interpreting and applying explosives safety and physical security regarding Class V material; experience applying instructional methodologies and instructional techniques; and experience with the technical aspects of munitions such as terms and requirements associated with the specialized fields of logistics operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ammunition and ExplosivesEducation and TrainingOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
