Duties
If selected for this position, you will supervise a well-respected team of Information Technology professionals.
Typical work assignments will include:
Performs essential "IT Manager" tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the Office IT systems. These duties include a wide range of information technology support technology to meet office information needs utilizing network hardware and software capabilities.
Maintains network architecture and infrastructure. Configures and maintains servers, hubs, routers and switches.
Monitors network capacity and performance. Performs network diagnostics and resolves network problems. Analyzes network traffic patterns and installs network software fixes, upgrades, and enhancements.
Implements programs to ensure users are aware of, understand and adhere to systems security policies and procedures.
Assesses security events and determines their impact and implements corrective actions. Reports anomalies, problems, and incidents.
Monitors functionality, security, and integrity of internet services. Manages internet servers.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
GS-13
To be eligible at the GS-13 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification(s).
Specialized Experience is defined as providing Information Technology customer support in providing technical and analytical assistance in areas which support information management; providing technical advice and assistance to resolve problems; identifying and implementing ways to improve production and increase the quality of the work; or performing advanced and complex system designs, development, testing, and implementation of substantially new applications to meet specialized, unique, or unprecedented needs.
AND
Individuals must have IT-related experience and training demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work until provides, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately.
Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. Education
