About the Position: Works under the general direction of the Chief, Mission Command, Cyber Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA), and Intelligence Division (MC2ID), Futures Integration Directorate (FID), Futures and Concepts Center (FCC) located at Fort Eustis,VA.

Duties

Serves, as Chief of Mission Command Branch and senior Mission Command (MC) functional area staff manager and technical advisor to the Director. Analyzes and evaluates efforts of AFC’s subordinate commands, materiel developers, Department of Army (DA), Department of Defense (DOD),Congress and industry to ensure effectiveness, integration and synchronization of proposed and ongoing programs. Stays abreast of doctrinal and technical changes in the area of C5ISR and materiel acquisition procedures. Empowered to negotiate with other services to ensure Army portion of joint service requirements are addressed and adequately funded in the budget and POM. Requirements and priorities are coordinated with the COCOMs worldwide and compared to the COCOM's national issues and integrated priority lists. Chairs special study groups to prepare and prioritize positions and otherwise represent Army requirements at high level discussions with DoD. Evaluates performance and provides advice, counsel, and guidance to subordinates. Interviews candidates for positions, recommends appointments, promotions or reassignments for such positions. Provides technical supervision and management on matters relating to the integration of "systems of systems” requirements. Researches, develops and makes recommendations for improvements in programs, policies, and regulations governing the Army's materiel acquisition process within the scope of DoD Directives.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty travel is required up to 25% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
