Duties

You will serve as the Public Affairs Specialist responsible for the Command Information(CI) digital media program planning, coordinating and managing all CI digital media activities. You will be the principal advisor to the Garrison Commander, Public Affairs Director and Command Information Chief, USAG-HI and U.S. Army Hawaii (USARHAW) tenant organization PAOs on all CI digital media matters. You will develop, post and monitor editorial content of the USAG-HI public website in conjunction with Installation Management Command and USAG-HI policies, and USAG-HI CI objectives. You will provide Operational Security (OPSEC) review and advice on all postings to the USAG-HI website. You will prepare digital media briefings and reports for the Public Affairs Director and Cl Chief as requested.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
  • This is an obligated position to which a former employee has statutory return rights.
  • You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • May be required to complete occasional business travel.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing communications strategies for public communication programs; advising senior leadership of public communications developments and issues; and conducting research to assist in website and social media management, development, and design. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communication CounselOrganizational AwarenessPublic Affairs Policies and ProceduresWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
