This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Global Operations Division. (Scott AFB/Hill AFB).
Duties
In a 24x7 construct, oversees and coordinates Tier 1 /Tier 2 systems testing, troubleshooting, and support required to ensure the security and continuous real-time availability and accessibility of the DoDIN and Enterprise services.
Monitors execution of changes to the physical configuration of network hardware and software as necessary to meet new or changed data transmission and connectivity requirements.
Provides initial diagnoses of complex IT network and routing issues such as network traffic congestion, packet loss, and encryption/decryption of information as it moves securely throughout the DoDIN.
Provides Situational Awareness to Battle Captains and fellow Watch Officers at both DISA Global Operations Centers to maintain a Common Operational Picture of the DoDIN.
Requirements

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
- Information Assurance (IA) Certification Level II.
- Shift Work: Hill AFB Shift Hours - Days: 0500-1330; Swings: 1300-2130; Mids: 2100-0530. Scott AFB Shift Hours - Days 0600-1430; Swings: 1400-2230; Mids: 2200-0630.
- Mission Essential designated position. Incumbent may work from alternate locations for extended periods of time if mission requirements dictate.
- Employee may subject to recall or call back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management
- Drug testing designated position. Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.
- A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
- Work may require travel away from the normal duty station.
- Overtime may be required as workload demands.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Basic Requirements:
Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs.
Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience.
Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions.
Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: experience in a network operations center environment which includes experience in customer service/customer support related to information technology, network operations, cybersecurity incident management and problem resolution.

Education
