You will serve as a SUPERVISORY MECHANICAL SHOP RESOURCE MANAGER in the Mechanical Shop, Production Resources Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will brief shop management and recommend corrective action regarding problems with coordination between the Shop and the project teams. You will maintain training schedules to ensure state of the art qualifications and trade skills for current and future work. You will review medical restrictions and recommends job assignments.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of nuclear and non-nuclear production trade and technical methods, procedures, materials and proccesses associated with the repair and overhaul of complex navy vessels, with a specialized practical knowledge of shop skilled trades practices and operations. Experience experience planning and coordinating complex ship repair, overhaul and installation prjects to understand scheduling, resource and qualification requirements. Experience providing project management, quality control, cost control, schedule control, and work flow control techniques. Experience investigating and analyzing practices and problems and reccomend effective improvements and solutionS. Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships and gaining the cooperation of supervisors, managers, and co-workers on complex and controversial issues. Experience applying complex fact finding analytical and problem solving methods and techniques.
